Guitarist, composer, arranger and teacher
Established and prominent figure in the jazz scene, Luigi Tessarollo played in concerts in USA (New York, Boston ...), in Europe (Festival International de Liege, Gouvy Festival, Comblain La Tour - Belgium, Grenoble Jazz Festival, Swiss National Radio, Italian RAI, Ajaccio Jazz, Berlin, Cologne, Frankfurt, Toulon .. ) and in the most prestigious Italian Festival (Umbria Jazz, JVC Festival, Jazz & Image in Rome, Festival Internazionale di Cagliari, Verona Jazz Festival, EuroJazzFestival d'Ivrea, Jazz In'It Vignola, Clusone Jazz, Bordighera Jazz & Blues, Ancona The Street of Jazz, Jazz Festival Sant'Elpidio, Rivarolo Jazz Guitar Festival, Guitar Festival Della Valle Ossola ..).
He has worked on stable projects and recordings projects (26 discs assets as leader and co-leader) with most of the best known jazz musicians from all over the country and with many internationally acclaimed artists: Lee Konitz, Slide Hampton George Garzone (with whom he worked for about ten years, performing as early as in 1993 to Regattabar in Boston as winners of the show Best of Boston Jazz Search), Stefano Bollani, Maurizio Giammarco, Flavio Boltro, Paolo Fresu, Adam Nussbaum, Manhua Roche, Matt Wilson, Dean Johnson, Jay Azzolina, Ron Vincent, Barry Harris, Franco Cerri, Enrico Rava, Larry Schnider, Bob Gullotti, Hal Stein, Douglas Yates, JL Rassinfosse, P. Vaiana, Bob Porcelli, Jim Snaidero, Sangoma Everett, Grant Stewart, Gabriel Espinoza ...

In 1997 he founded the Mediterranean Trio with Dario Deidda on fretless and the late Alex Rolle on percussion, with which he made after several years of attendance at festivals and specialized exhibitions, plus the self-titled CD for Bonandrini. Currently, the trio has evolved into a project based on the experience and research of many years of working both as leader and as a composer.
Since the beginning of 1999 to 2002 he engaged in a quartet with Adam Nussbaum (drums of Michael Brecker, John Scofield, John Abercrombie, Gil Evans, Carla Bley ...), Riccardo Fassi and Paolino dalla Porta with whom he toured 4 times and released the CD "Bemsha.
In November 1998, in duo with the great piano palyer Stefano Bollani, start the project dedicated to Bill Evans and Jim Hall, from which has been realized the self-titled CD recorded live in Switzerland for the National Radio.
In 2000 he founded the Italian Standards Trio with Manhu Roche on drums and Ares Tavolazzi on bass.
We should also mention the creation of the Passage Quartet ('92-) with whom he recorded two CDs and has performed in international festivals and five-toured with Dean Johnson and Ron Vincent (former rhythm of Gerry Mulligan) and Maurizio Giammarco.
In 1991, the invitation to represent, with their own compositions, Italian Jazz at the Grenoble Jazz Festival, and in 1995,his presence as guitarist in the National Orchestra of Italian Jazz Musicians.
In 2004, the Piedmont Region and the Grinzane Cavour Prize, for the first time, contributing to the achievement of a work jazz oriented :"Music of the Piedmont between past and present”: a Tessarollo recording project in collaboration with Fulvio Chiara, the first and only recording work carried out with classical guitar and trumpet. The album contains reworkings of original reworking material borrowed from the history of the traditional Piedmont songs and embellished with a booklet of 50 pages with comments and well-known italianwriters such as Piedmont Luciana Littizzetto, Gambarotta Bruno, Giuseppe Culicchia, Gipo Farassino ...
In 2001 he founded, with the Brazilian guitarist Roberto Taufic, the duo StringsGame which, to date, he performs regularly and is required to represent the Italian jazz at the XX Olympic Winter Games in Turin in 2006.
From 2007 to 2009 worked in duo with the south Italian violinist Luca Ciarla with whom he made an album.
In 2008 starts the quartet of two guitars with New Yorkers Jay Azzolina (guitar) and Ron Vincent (drums), which led to the publication of "Ray's Hat Trick" . CD of only original compositions.
In 2009 joins the young talented Mattia Cigalini on alto sax, which records the project "Italian melodies in Jazz": all Italian songs reworked by the same Tessarollo.
Abundant is his work as a composer : more than 120 songs protected by SIAE including approximately 70 published and released on CD (scores). Many of his records, recorded in large part as a leader, are distributed in Europe, USA and Japan.
In 2005, the music publishing company Carish publics some Tessarollo compositions in the book "Italian Jazz Real Book", a collection of tunes from the most significant composers of jazz in Italy.
Since 2006 he was appointed artistic director of Jazz Guitar Festival Rivarolo.( Torino)
His formative experiences are many: graduation from the Conservatory of Music in Classical Guitar and Jazz, the meetings with great jazz masters such as Jim Hall, John Scofield, Dave Holland ... his musical studies in India and Turkey. Many also his professional experiences (guitarist for the RAI-TV (Italian National Television in the early eighties, guest in TV shows on national channels, collaboration with A. Martelli, concerts with Gloria Gaynor)
